What is SNAG?

SNAG is an AI shopping agent for the UK. You type what you want in plain English, and SNAG returns three ranked products from UK retailers — a top pick, an alternative, and a budget option. You buy from the retailer directly.

It's like having a friend who's good at finding things online, except the friend works in seconds and isn't getting kickbacks from any specific retailer.

Is SNAG free?

The free tier gives you 3 searches per day — plus up to 15 extra per day if you share SNAG with friends (max 50/month). For most casual shoppers that's enough.

If you want more, Premium is £3.99/month (250 searches/month, no ads). Pro is £9.99/month (unlimited, fair use applies).

Does SNAG sell things?

No. SNAG is a recommendation engine, not a shop. When you tap "Buy direct →", you're sent to the retailer's website to complete the purchase. We never hold your card details, your address, or your money.

How should I phrase searches?

Like a person. Not "white sneakers" — try "white leather sneakers under £80, comfy for walking, women's size 6." The more context, the better SNAG can match.

That said, vague is fine too. SNAG will give you broader options if you don't narrow it down.

Why only 3 results?

Because choice overload is real. The whole point of SNAG is to not give you 200 tabs to compare. We rank everything we find and surface the three that genuinely matter: the best fit, an alternative if the top doesn't suit you, and a budget option if you want to save.

Why doesn't SNAG know about [specific product]?

Possible reasons: the retailer isn't in our search index, the product is out of stock, your query wasn't specific enough to surface it, or the retailer simply doesn't list it online. Try rewording and searching again.

We're constantly adding more UK retailers. If a specific brand you love isn't showing up, let us know via the contact form — we'll look into it.

Are the prices accurate?

They're live at the moment of search. Online prices change constantly — sales, stock fluctuations, dynamic pricing. By the time you reach checkout, the price could be different. SNAG can't control that, and we won't pretend to.

Can I trust the ranking?

Yes. Affiliate commission has zero effect on what ranks where. SNAG ranks on fit, price, reviews, retailer trust, delivery, and stock — in that order. A retailer that pays SNAG zero can outrank one that pays generously, if the product is a better fit.

Accounts & subscriptions

Do I need to sign up?

You get 3 free searches without signing up. After that you'll need a free account to keep going. Signing up gets you a member number (which can become a founder/OG badge if you upgrade early), search history, and the ability to nominate snags to the Hall of Snags.

What's the founder badge?

The first 250 paying subscribers get a ★ FOUNDER badge with their member number (#001–#250). The next 250 get ★ OG (#251–#500). After that, both close forever. The badge shows on your account and on any snags you share publicly — a permanent mark of being early.

Can I cancel any time?

Yes. One tap in account settings. No retention pages, no "are you sure", no upsell. You keep your tier benefits until the end of your current billing period.

What if I delete my account?

Your data is removed within 30 days (with the legal exceptions in our privacy policy). Your member number isn't recycled — it stays retired.

Trust & safety

Why do I need to verify my age?

Some products are 18+ in the UK — alcohol, vapes, knives, CBD. SNAG won't show these in results unless you've verified your age. Verification takes 30 seconds via Yoti or Onfido. We don't see or store your ID — only a yes/no flag.

Is my data safe?

Short answer: yes. We collect the minimum we need to make SNAG work. We never sell your data. Storage is encrypted, accounts are protected via Supabase Auth (the same platform many YC startups use), and we don't share data with advertisers for targeting. Read the full privacy policy for specifics.

Can I trust the AI?

SNAG uses Claude (by Anthropic) as the underlying AI, locked down to do exactly one thing: parse shopping queries and rank product results. It can't browse the web freely, send emails, run code, or read your files. It won't roleplay, won't be jailbroken, won't deviate from the shopping use case.

If you try to ask it something off-topic, it'll politely tell you it only does shopping.

Returns & problems

What if my order doesn't arrive?

Contact the retailer directly. SNAG isn't involved in the delivery — that's the retailer's promise to you. Most UK retailers have clear "where's my order" support pages.

If the retailer is unresponsive and the product was genuinely terrible, let us know — we'll consider removing them from our index.

Can I return it via SNAG?

No. Returns go through the retailer, under their returns policy. SNAG isn't a merchant and can't process returns or refunds.

What if SNAG gives a bad recommendation?

It happens. The ranking is automated and the AI isn't perfect. If a recommendation was genuinely poor, that's useful feedback — email us with the query and what was wrong, and it helps us tune the ranking.
